How do we have people who value such trivial things in the world yet we still have murder? There are many different fights around the world, some end in tears and others in death. Aaron Alexis will have a lot of press about him in the next few days and I feel for his family. How much pain can one soul bare before it explodes? Every time we, Americans, hear about another mass shooting gun laws are up for debate, but this man was one of our own. This man fought for our freedom one time. This man isn’t a “terrorist” by definition but he is a coward. He is a coward because he murdered 12 other individuals before committing suicide. He is a coward because he left a family to mourn his death and suffer the wrath of his actions. He is a coward because he has put fear in the lives of many. This story may not get as much press because the people killed were not children. However, the issue remains the same. We remain in a country we deem as “safe” because we do not have the same problems as other countries such as Syria. We often fight their battles to create this better “whole world” society, yet our own soil is tainted by blood of yet another mass murder. I do not have the answers, I am merely a twenty something looking for hope again. In a perfect world everyone would be happy and there’d be candy everywhere. But we do not life in a perfect world. We breath and walk around everyday praying that greatness will come our way. Remember no matter how bad of a day you are having, you have the courage to continue throughout the day. You are capable of happiness because you have not given up on hope. Hope is all we have, it can not be taken away by anyone but ourselves.
Some people fight for freedom, others fight for life.
